Renovations

This is our new cat door, expertly installed on the cellar door. We had to tape the flap open because both of the cats are idiots and don't understand that they can push it open. We moved the cat food and litter boxes into the cellar last week in preparation for moving Will into his new bedroom downstairs, where we used to keep the cat food and litter boxes. There is still a lot of work to be done before the big move, but at least we've made progress. This past weekend we totally cleaned out the bedroom that will be Will's new room and rearranged the guest room so that it is now the guest room and the office and the home gym. The overall effect is surprisingly pleasing. We just hope that we can open the futon without hitting the desk.

  • Whoa! It's JR! I don't think I've seen her anywhere other than your bedroom since 2004.

  • So what's the deal? Will is moving into a new room? Is he getting a bed too? What's the scoop?

  • He's getting a new crib in his new room. I would like him to sleep in a crib for as long as possible, so we're going to get him a crib that converts into a toddler bed and the new baby will get Will's current crib, which does not convert. We want to move him well before the new baby is born to avoid a jealous reaction. Since we only have two bedrooms upstairs, we had to choose between having the two kids share a room or having one sleep downstairs. Since Will sleeps through the night and I'm guessing (though hoping I'm wrong) that his little brother will not, at least for a while, we decided that it would work out better if they did not share a room. So we're leaving the nursery upstairs and Will is getting an awesome new big-boy room downstairs.

  • Cool. I second the crib as long as possible bit. I don't want Rorie to come to wake me up. She can already open doors. We need some cat doors or something, but our cats are also probably too stupid to work them.
