Will's new room a week later

Apparently we had the baby monitor volume set too low to actually hear him wake up in the morning, so he entertained himself while we slept on by peeling his beautiful penguin border off the wall everywhere he could reach it! We have plenty more and it took no time to hang, but I don't see the point in putting it back up. He'll rip it back down.

We had a very nice weekend. We thought it was going to be rainy all weekend, but Saturday turned out to be very nice. We started off the weekend by going to Panera for breakfast, and Will behaved nicely enough that we all had a good time. And it also turned out to be the celebration of our city's 250th anniversary, so we took Will downtown for the parade Saturday afternoon. He liked it a lot, especially the horses.

And today we bought fabric to make curtains for Will's room. The ones we have up now are temporary, and don't do all that they could to block the morning's sunlight, which I believe is why Will wakes up between 6:30 and 6:40 these days. So we also got some light-blocking material to back his shades with, which we hope will help.

  • Apparently it's a love-hate relationship with penguins. Sorry to hear that, it did look so nice before. But I can see why you're not putting it back up, at least not right away.

I'm curious to hear how the light blocking curtains work. Dylan is getting up WAY to early (5:30 some days) and I'm wondering if it's the light.

  • Ha ha! That is so funny. Who would have thought he would be so destructive. We had very similar Saturdays - down to Panera!

As far as light blocking material for curtains, I know that one. We bought light blocking curtains about 2 months ago - before the time change. She was starting to get up at 6am right before it happened, and we couldn't take it.

  • I am wondering if it was some of the penguins who were waking him him in the morning with their chattering. So he decided to take things into his own hands (literally) and get rid of them. He clearly left the quiet ones on the wall. That child is simply amazing!

  • Oh man, I read a short story about this once. Only there were fewer penguins and the wallpaper was yellow.
