Meet the baby

Ryan Gregory was born on Tuesday, June 3 at 12:14 AM. He weighed 8 lbs, 3 oz. and was 21 inches long. We actually had an induction scheduled for that day due to medical reasons, but Ryan did not feel like waiting. In fact, Ryan did not feel that Mommy needed to endure much medical intervention at all, including an IV, epidural, or even fetal monitoring. He made his way into the world fifteen minutes after we entered labor and delivery, and I swear ten of those minutes were spent waiting for the doctor to arrive. After a 30+ hour labor with Will I was prepared for at least ten or so hours with this guy, but apparently he only needed a few good hours. The unfortunate thing was that we didn't even have our camera there when he was born, since it all happened so fast. We have some great pictures of Will when he was seconds old, but the best we have for Ryan is at about an hour of age, as seen above.

Will sort of likes being a big brother. When he's feeling charitable toward Ryan he points to him and says, "I pet that." When he feels that Ryan is overstepping his bounds, like when he's nursing, for example, Will pulls his head away and yells, "No, baby!" Luckily Will has had a lot of distractions these past few days, with my sister, my parents, and Matt's parents in town treating him like a king. So despite a few rough patches, things are going very well.

  • He also did offer to teach Ryan how to pee when he gets a little older. I think that's pretty big brotherly!
